Yann Sommer set to sign for Inter Milan

Yann Sommer's transfer odyssey is apparently coming to a close, with Bayern Munich accepting Inter Milan's offer

(Football news) After parting ways with Andre Onana and Samir Handanovic earlier this summer, the Italian giants are anxious to sign the Swiss international. However, the Bavarian club was hesitant to sell Sommer because he was an essential part of their goals, especially while Manuel Neuer was still recovering.

Earlier in the day, news reports claimed that the Nerazzurri will activate the goalkeeper’s release clause to complete the move. Nonetheless, it looks like the two teams have reached an acceptable understanding of the formula.

Bayern has already accepted a 6 million euro offer from Inter Milan. Surprisingly, this is the identical number that was included in the player’s release clause. However, according to the terms of the deal with the Bundesliga winners, Inter will pay the transfer money in two annual instalments.

Sommer is expected to arrive in Italy this weekend, according to Di Marzio. On Monday, he will have standard medical exams before signing his contract.

The 34-year-old rose to prominence at FC Basel before joining Borussia Monchengladbach for eight and a half years. He joined Bayern Munich in January to replace the injured Manuel Neuer.
