(Tennis news) World number 2 Ons Jabeur defeated Emma Raducanu 5-7 6-3 10-8 despite the British tennis star coming from a break down to win the first set. The 20 year old was making her first appearance since early October and was trailing 5-3 in the first set but went on to win four in a row to take the opening set against defending champion Ons Jabeur. However, the Tunisian broke Raducanu in the sixth game of the second set and went on to force a tie-break decider.
It was a positive display by Raducanu as she held the initiative at 8-6 but Jabeur fought back to take the last four points and win the title. The 20 year old is currently preparing for the Australian Open in Melbourne and despite losing out to a formidable opponent like Jabeur, her performance will be encouraging, especially with Raducan getting a new coach Sebastian Sachs.
“Yeah I’m rather pleased. I had to cut my season short because of a wrist injury so I’ve just been building in the gym, started getting back on court recently in the last two weeks, so happy to be making some progressions and looking forward to 2023.”

The British tennis star recently appointed Belinda Bencic’s former coach Sebastian Sachs, which is her fifth trainer in 18 months. Sachs helped Bencic win the Olympic gold last year and has also worked with Victoria Azarenka and Germany’s Julia Goerges.
