Prof. Ramón González, the mayor of Loreto, and representatives from the Loreto Football League and the Provincial Football Federation of Santiago del Estero declared that the worldcups, the Finalissima, and the Copa América, which Lionel Scaloni’s team won, will come to the city on April 7 to be displayed.
Mayor González, Francisco Pece, the vice president of the Provincial Football Federation, Jorge Villalba, the president of the Loreto Football League, team presidents, and other dignitaries were present at the press conference where the announcement was made.
Mayor González said during the event, “This will be a historic event for our city, as we are set to host three icons of Argentine and global sports, represented by the trophies won by the Scaloneta.”
“This is particularly important for our current government in Loreto,” he continued, “because on the day of the World Championship, we opened a space that had previously been abandoned. The World Cup coming to Loreto is a huge source of happiness.
“The way that sport brings the nation, the province, and the communities together is fantastic. Without a governor that makes athletics a top priority in state policy, we could not accomplish this. Since sports are the greatest means of fostering human unity, we are dedicated to promoting them,” he underlined.
“The municipal government has fully backed Loreto football, supporting every institution, from day one,” Pece added. He added, “It is crucial for us to be a part of this announcement, as it is a historic moment that will fill the city of Loreto with pride.”
