(Motorsports news) The Austrian driver has refuted rumors that Verstappen is contemplating offers from Mercedes to join their team in 2025 in an uncommon interview. Mercedes has expressed interest in signing the three-time world champion on multiple occasions.
Furthermore, Mintzlaff has questioned if Wolff’s multiple public comments regarding his desire to court Verstappen at a time when his own team is having such difficulty are appropriate.
Regarding Wolff’s remarks regarding Verstappen in public, Mintzlaff stated in an interview that will appear in Bild Am Sonntag, “I understand the pressure that Toto Wolff and perhaps other teams have after years of being behind.”
However, I believe Toto Wolff should focus on his obstacles. He’s had enough of those.
Additionally, it has to do with respect. It would be inappropriate for me to continue discussing the players on other teams.
Despite Verstappen’s uneasy start to the season due to the power struggle inside the Red Bull organization, Mintzlaff stated that the Dutchman has not shown any signs of wishing to leave his current deal, which is set to expire at the end of 2028.
“Max has a long-term contract with us that he hasn’t mentioned that he doesn’t want to fulfill,” the spokesperson stated.
“The fact that he might move is not at all concerning to me. We just need things to settle down once more. Max and the rest of us want the same thing.
“You also need that if you want to play sports for a long time, like football or Formula 1.”
When asked if he could think of a reason for Verstappen to leave Red Bull, Mintzlaff replied, “No.” I am at least at a loss for ideas.
Max desires the quickest vehicle. This is what we have. Max aspires to win a world championship. He stands the best chance with us.
Max is also a devoted man. He is aware that Helmut Marko and Christian Horner have always had faith in him. He finds that rather appreciative.
Furthermore, Red Bull is just a fantastic brand that he really connects with. Thus, there are numerous arguments in favor of staying and none against.
