(Football news) In Premier League games under Ange Postecoglou, the 31-year-old has been a constant in the starting lineup, making 15 appearances and producing two assists and nine goals.

But the South Korea international has only scored once in his previous five games, and in a 2-1 loss to the Hammers, he once again failed to find the target.

West Ham completed the comeback at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium thanks to goals from Jarrod Bowen and James Ward-Prowse, after Spurs had taken the lead with a header from Cristian Romero.

With Son needing to be substituted in the 87th minute, Postecoglou would have been depending on him to spark a comeback in the last minutes.

Son looked to be in discomfort when he sat down on the substitutes’ bench while receiving treatment from the team’s medical personnel.

But Son has provided two updates on his health. “I had a big kick on my back, in the back of the bone, so we’ll see,” he said in a statement to the Spurs media team in the first update. It’s taken me some time to evaluate it, so we’ll see.

Saying, “No, I’m okay,” Son tried to soothe Spurs supporters. It’s alright with me. Look at it.

Three days remain till Spurs play their first Premier League match of the season on Sunday night against Newcastle United.

Son’s availability will be greatly anticipated by Postecoglou as Spurs prepare for what might be a critical game for the season—having now lost five straight games.

Spurs are currently nine points behind leaders Arsenal and only three points ahead of West Ham in ninth position in the Premier League, despite having formerly led the standings.

Additionally, their advantage over their upcoming opponents is just one point; they were defeated 3-0 at Everton on Thursday night.

Spurs and Newcastle might start Sunday in seventh and eighth place, respectively, because Brighton & Hove Albion played Burnley the day before and Manchester United hosted Bournemouth.
