(Football news) Watford manager Roy Hodgson has announced that he won't be at the club next season and does not expect to take up another managerial position. The 74 year old was honoured with a CBE for his services to football at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday and Hodgson will hope to guide Watford to a victory when they face Crystal Palace on Saturday as a loss would mean relegation from the Premier League.
Speaking about his future, Hodgson said “I've enjoyed my time doing the job. It's a very demanding world. Obviously, it's a short-term [deal]. Certainly, I made it clear it would need to be a short-term one between now and the end of the season. I took that job on and came out of retirement to do that particular job. Now that job has unfortunately ended. I don't think I shall be putting my name forward anymore for further sorties in the world of Premier League football. I think I've earned the right to step back and enjoy some free time and spend some time with my wife and son."
Hodgson’s managerial career has spanned 45 years and the former England manager has worked at clubs such as Inter Milan, Blackburn, Fulham, Liverpool, West Brom and Crystal Palace along with the national teams of Switzerland, United Arab Emirates and Finland. He left Crystal Palace at the end of last season but came out of retirement to take over Watford after they sacked Claudio Ranieri following a string of poor results.
