(Football news) According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United midfield target Vitinha has completed a move to Paris Saint Germain as the French giants activated the youngster’s €40m release clause. He won the league with Porto last season and also has some Premier League experience under his belt, having spent the 2020-21 season on loan at Wolverhampton Wanderers. Vitinha played for Wolves on loan but failed to impress at the Molineux, scoring once in only 22 appearances. He impressed for Porto after returning last summer, featuring 47 times across all competitions for the Portuguese side as he helped his side win the Portuguese league title
United last season struggled in the midfield and with several departures this summer, they were looking at Vitinha as a potential replacement. The lure of Champions League football as well as the presence of new football director Luis Campos has seemingly swayed Vitinha to choose Paris as his next destination. Vitinha would have provided Erik ten Hag with vital depth in the midfield area. His experience in the Premier League from his spell on loan at Wolves, could have made him an ideal replacement for someone like Paul Pogba. At just 22 years old, Vitinhas has the intelligence on and off the ball, alongside his range of passing are two of his best assets. Throughout Porto’s title-winning season, Vitinha showed his excellent passing ability and switching of the play from one flank to another.
The Portuguese midfielder is a ball player as he is always looking to get on the ball and keep the play ticking over. When he is playing as a number 8, his ability to link up with teammates and his ability to pick out incisive passes to them in the final third has made the scouts aware of his talents. In PSG, there is going to be a proper midfield overhaul as the likes of Gueye, Herrera and Parades are going to leave, and it looks like Vitinha might just be a one of the replacements for these departing players. The new incoming PSG manager will have the likes of Vitinha and Veratti at his disposal as both the talented players will hope to create a lethal midfield.
