UCL: Out of form Bayer Leverkusen host Atletico Madrid

(Football news) In the 2nd matchday of the UEFA Champions League, Bayer Leverkusen and Atlético Madrid will go head to head at the BayArena. After finishing 3rd in the Bundesliga last season, Leverkusen have had a very troubled start to the season as they only have 1 win and 1 draw in 8 games this season. Manager Gerardo Seoane will definitely be under a lot of pressure. Atlético Madrid have had a bumpy start as they have won 4 drawn 1 and lost 1 game in the season so far. Diego Simeone's side has played some good football this season but they haven't been as clinical as he would've liked.

In matchday 1, Atlético Madrid's first game was incredibly dramatic as they won 2-1 at home against Porto. All 3 goals came in the injury time of the 2nd half after Porto were down to 10 men. Bayer Leverkusen lost 1-0 against Club Brugge away from home. The German side had 52% possession and 3 shots on target but they couldn't manage to find the back of the net. Seoane is walking on thin ice right now as he could get the sack after one more loss. A win against Atletico however will be a massive confidence booster for his side but by no means would it be easy. The Rojiblancos will play some rough football as they always do and it will be interesting to see if Leverkusen can cope with it. A lot will depend on how star striker Patrick Schick performs.

Leverkusen are missing quite a few players as they will be without Karim Bellarabi, Andrey Lunev, Amine Adli and Florian Wirtz while Exequiel Palacios is a doubt. Atlético Madrid will be without Sergio Reguilon and Stefan Savic while Jan Oblak and Jose Gimenez are also major doubts. Atlético Madrid will also have one eye on the Madrid derby on the weekend hence Simeone could even contemplate rested a couple of his key players.
