Perth Scorchers quick Lance ‘The Wild Thing’ Morris will remain in the wild west for a while yet, extending his contract by two years until the end of the KFC BBL|16 season.
Morris has become an integral part of Perth’s pace brigade since joining from Melbourne Stars before BBL|11.
Skilful with rare pace – capable of clocking speeds exceeding 150km/h – Morris has taken 26 wickets from 21 games in orange.
This tally includes 23 scalps from his last 15 appearances, illustrating Morris’ evolution into a damaging strike weapon for skipper Ashton Turner.
The Dunsborough product celebrated his maiden BBL five-wicket haul against Adelaide Strikers at Optus Stadium last season, decimating the visitors’ top-order to claim 5-24 from four overs. Perth and Scarborough teammate Andrew Tye (5-23) is the only Scorcher to have returned better individual figures.
Morris, 26, is also a sounding board for the Club’s next generation of quicks including promising pair Mahli Beardman and Bryce Jackson.
He took 2-30 as Perth launched BBL|14 with a six-wicket win over Melbourne Stars at Optus Stadium on Sunday.
The Scorchers will face Hobart Hurricanes at Ninja Stadium on Saturday, before matches against Melbourne Renegades (23 December, Marvel Stadium) and Brisbane Heat (Boxing Day, Optus Stadium).

Reflecting on extending with the Club, Morris said:
“I’m very excited to extend with the Scorchers for two more years. It’s a privilege to represent WA in any format and I’ve absolutely loved my time in orange the past few seasons.
“The Club’s successful on the field but we also have a great group of people off the field. We’ve built a culture that’s good fun to be part of and we get the best out of each other.
“On an individual note, I’ve enjoyed building on my T20 skills and I’m excited to continue honing my craft. More importantly, I’d love for this group of players to take out some more silverware in the next couple of years.
“It’s been awesome to see some new quicks come on to the scene, as well. It’d be extremely humbling to help them grow their game and be a mentor in the same way AJ (Tye), Dorff (Jason Behrendorff) and Richo (Jhye Richardson) have been for me.”
