(Football news) On Monday night, Tottenham Hotspurs nine players were crushed 4-1 by Chelsea, their bitter rivals in London, while their hosts were left to lament another controversial VAR decision in a 2-1 defeat to Sheffield United.

Wolves manager Gary O’Neill lost out to a questionable call that went against his team at Bramall Lane on yet another terrible weekend for the PGMOL, as newly promoted Sheffield United won the top division for the first time at eleventh attempt.

After Cameron Archer’s piledriver broke the deadlock in the 89th minute, Jean-Ricner Bellegarde’s goal should have been enough to send Wolves home with a point. However, with 100 minutes remaining, Oliver Norwood scored a goal from 12 yards after it was determined that Fabio Silva had knocked down George Baldock.

During yet another agonizing afternoon, O’Neil made no secret of his feelings towards the referees as Bramall Lane celebrated a long-awaited maximum. He said that the division is in a “crazy place” with VAR and implied that Baldock purchased the foul for the Blades’ dramatic late spot kick.

Wolves’ four-game unbeaten streak came to an end with their loss to Paul Heckingbottom’s team. During that strong run, they had grabbed points from Manchester City, Aston Villa, and Newcastle United. However, they now sit 14th in the rankings, six points clear of the relegation zone.

Goalmouth action should be guaranteed at Molineux, as O’Neil’s team has now scored and conceded in each of their last nine games across all competitions and has not failed to make the net bulge at home since February. Only West Ham United (18) have scored more goals than Wolves (14) in the bottom half this season.
