(Football News) Real Madrid before the start of next season have already lost Karim Benzema, Marco Asensio, Eden Hazard, and Mariano Diaz. Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Nacho, and Dani Ceballos’ contracts were ending this summer but now all of them have reportedly signed new deals. Kroos is the first one whose deal has been made official by the club.
The case of Toni Kroos is unique as it is pretty clear that it is either a one-year renewal or retirement. The German’s last renewal was in 2019 when he had said that it will be his last long-term renewal. Kroos has publicly said multiple times that he doesn’t want to play till he is 40 and wants to retire early at Real Madrid.
Real Madrid were always clear that they wanted Toni Kroos to continue playing and not retire. According to reports they even offered him a longer deal but the player opted for a 1-year deal. No other club was even in the conversation by the looks of things. Kroos had a very good first half of the season but after the World Cup break it slightly dipped. The signing of Jude Bellingham has not affected Toni Kroos’ decision to renew but his game time may be significantly reduced. He is still only 33 years and could still play at Real Madrid for a long time depending on his performances.
Next season Real Madrid will have 7 world-class midfielders which will give Carlo Ancelotti a little bit of a headache. Real Madrid have also announced the renewal of Nacho while Luka Modric and Dani Ceballos should be next. There are contrasting reports when it comes to Real Madrid’s future transfer activity this summer. One thing is pretty clear that Real Madrid need at least one striker and if they fail to sign one then the squad will be severely understaffed in the forward area.
