(Cricket news): The IPL is set to resume from 19th as the first half saw only 29 matches taking place and the remaining matches will take place in Dubai and Sharjah. Since the inclusion of the T20 format in the game, there have been problems in dealing with the style and the needs of the format. The T20 format demands quick thinking and attacking gameplay which comes in both bowling and batting while Test cricket demands a whole different skill set.

The Indian players will have only a handful of days to prepare for the IPL as the England Test series got over abruptly. Many England players are not available this time as they have a hectic schedule playing the T20 World Cup and also the Ashes. The Indian players will try to use the IPL as a platform to find form in the T20 World Cup but might have a tough time in the start of the IPL.

Players will also have to stay in the COVID bubble and follow the protocols as the Fifth test scare hopefully will again. The change from 90 overs to 20 overs requires the players to be versatile and only few are able to excel in all the three formats. There has been quite an increase in the amount of runs scored in a game no matter what the format is and it has affected the players who are well versed in Test cricket.

Chris Gayle, one of the flag bearers of the T20 format is one of the most attacking players who has set the benchmark in the game. There has been a contrasting rise over the past decade in the run scoring between the teams. In the ODI format, the 700 run aggregate has been crossed 21 times in which 19 have come this decade and 13 have come in the past 5 years.

The batsmen who are currently on the pitch are totally different from the ones who were there 30 years ago. There were attacking players but now most of them are definitely playing in an aggressive style as the game calls for it. The current set of players are the most adaptive ones as they quickly change their game in a matter of few days and it can be clearly seen in the IPL.

The IPL is into its 13th edition and for the first time has seen a halt in the middle, the players will don change from white to colorful jerseys. Joe Root, the current highest Test run getter this year has not featured in the IPL although Rohit Sharma who is the second highest run getter will be looking to take his team to the top. Rohit Sharma is always known as an attacking batsman but has tuned his batting skills which came in handy against the England side will be in a different form when dons the Blue jersey. It is for sure a superpower, like running a marathon and now sprinting down the 100 metre track.
