(Tennis news) Widely regarded as the ‘World Cup of Tennis’, the Davis Cup will be held in Manchester later this year from September 12-17. The North England city will become the fifth venue after Coventry, Glasgow, London and Birmingham to host the Davis Cup finals in the last 10 years and will enable fans to see some of the best players in action. Last year, Britain was chosen as one of the four nations to host the Group Stages of the Finals.

As per the format of the event, each nation will play three times over a six day competition and the top two nations from each of the four groups will reach the quarter-final ‘Final 8’ knock-out competition held in Malaga between November 21-26. The multi-year agreement between LTA and the International Tennis Federation to host the group stage in Britain is based on if the country qualifies or receives a wild card entry for the Davis Cup. Britain won the Davis Cup for the first time in 79 years in 2015 and reached two semi-finals and two quarter-finals since then.

Manchester will host the Davis Cup for the first time since Great Britain played Romania in a Europe/Africa Group I tie at the Northern Lawn Tennis Club in July 1994. The draw for the 2023 Davis Cup Final Group Stage will take place at Malaga, Spain on Wednesday March 29th at 4 pm local time. The draw will stream live on ITF Youtube channel and the other three Group Stage hosts will be confirmed at the ceremony itself. 2022 champions Canada and runner-up Australia will be seeded first and second respectively with Spain third and Croatia fourth.
