(Cricket news) India Women have lost the series against Australia pretty convincingly by a score of 4-1. The victory for India in the 3rd T20I was in the super over which eventually ended up preventing a whitewash. The biggest takeaway is what was already known, which is that Australia is way too good for India. India played some good cricket throughout the series but in the defining moments Australia switched gears while India were left searching for answers. India Women are currently working without a head coach or a bowling coach which isn’t ideal especially with the T20 World Cup coming up.
India Women did try 2-3 different combinations to try and figure out their best XI but that is still unclear. India dropped Sneh Rana from the squad to get in an all-rounder who bowls leg spin in Devika Vaidya who had a decent series. Anjali Sarvani made her international debut and performed well in patches. She was selected because Pooja Vastrakar was injured but when Vastrakar is back Meghna Singh is likely to make way. There are changes in the Indian side and progressive changes for that matter.
Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur both failed to fire in the series but they have way too much quality to be doubted. India Women will now have a one month break after which they have a tri series against West Indies and South Africa. The main objective of that series will be to identify the best combination. Harmanpreet Kaur is a pretty handy bowler as we have seen with India and with the Melbourne Renegades in the WBBL. The Indian skipper didn’t bowl in this series which is surprising to say the least. India need to figure out if they want to play 5 full time bowlers or 6 full time bowlers which is a very tough call.
