On the eve of the semifinals, certain clubs voice their opposition to the Spanish Supercopa’s financial distribution year after year, edition after edition. Valencia went one step farther and even filed a lawsuit, which was eventually dropped. In opposition to Real Madrid and Barcelona, Athletic has this time demanded a more equitable and fair distribution.

The Supercopa has €40 million in federal support under the 2023 agreement. The Federation and grassroots football, or the so-called football pyramid, will receive €20 million. This season, a number of little clubs have been invited to the Jeddah event.

For Real Madrid and Barcelona, there is no set sum. Since the Supercopa’s inception, they have always been there. Furthermore, as previous federative leaders have implicitly admitted, the presence of the two fierce opponents makes the aforementioned championship worth €40 million.

Each team is awarded based on their past performance, broadcast viewership, and titles earned. It is not a fixed sum; rather, it fluctuates according to the teams’ past and current performance. Real Madrid presently leads Barcelona and would start over €6 million, compared to €6 million for Barcelona, €2 million for Athletic, and €850,000 for Mallorca, based on the teams’ recent accomplishments. In addition, the final champion will take home €2 million, while the semifinal winning teams will each receive €1 million.

Atlético earned almost €3 million, Real Madrid and Barcelona earned roughly €6 million apiece, and Osasuna got €1.5 million. The Federation agreed that Real Madrid, Atletico, and Barcelona would each donate €200,000 to Osasuna, the fourth participant, so the Navarre club received more than the “usual.”
