Sudeva Delhi coach Dorji optimistic despite loss to Churchill Brothers

Sudeva Delhi FC faced a major upset as Churchill Brothers FC defeated them 2-0 and strengthened their top spot at the I-League ladder at the Mohun Bagan Stadium in Kolkata. Churchill Brothers recorded their third win and went four points clear at the points table. Sudeva Delhi put up a brave effort but couldn’t make a comeback with the game ending 2-0 in favour of the Churchill brothers. According to a press release by Sudeva Delhi FC, head coach Chencho Dorji analysed the positives, mistakes and lessons learnt after their game against Churchill Brothers. “It is vitally important that every member of the squad knows he is here to do a job and has a chance to play depending on the opposition and our tactical approach ” said Dorji after the game. “We have a lot of talent and ability and the starting line-up will depend on both performance in training and the opposition we face. For example, knowing Churchill will press us high up the pitch, particularly in the first half, led to an opening for Lovepreet because of his ability with the ball at his feet and good distribution.” Making a comeback in the game after lagging behind 2 goals was always going to be tough for Sudeva Delhi with Churchill Brothers remaining focused and organised at the back that resulted in an important win. “When we go down, the boy’s head drops,” said Dorji. Although upset with the game, Dorji is confident that a few changes in Sudeva’s mindset can change their fortunes and give them a chance to progress into the top six. “We have to start taking the game to the other teams,” he says. With Delhi Sudeva gearing to face Punjab FC and Chennai City next, Dorji said “Our target is two wins from these two games, which will put us in a strong position ahead of the 10 day break in fixtures.” Sudeva Delhi will face Chennai City at the Nehru Stadium with both teams in 9th and 10th position of the I-League table with 1 point separating the two sides.
