(Cricket news) Sri Lanka has announced their red-ball squad to face Afghanistan in a one-off match, which is set to begin on February 2. This will be Dhananjaya de Silva’s first assignment as full-time Test skipper after taking over the role from Dimuth Karunaratne.
The Sri Lankan squad includes three uncapped players for the series. This consists of the likes of Wicketkeeper-batter Lahiru Udara, fast bowlers Chamika Gunasekara and Milan Rathnayake. It is the maiden national call for Rathnayake across formats, while Udara and Gunasekara have played in a T20I and an ODI respectively for the national side before
Lakshitha Mansinghe, Praveen Jayawickrama and Pathum Nissanka have been dropped from the squad hat was picked for their previous Test assignment against Pakistan. This will be the first ever Test match featuring these two teams.
