(Football news) When Antonio Conte was appointed at Tottenham Hotspur, the expectation was that the Italian would guide the team to a trophy for the first time since 2008. The club are currently fourth in the Premier League and are expected to qualify for the Champions League, but that wouldn’t be enough to satisfy either Conte or Spurs’ hierarchy and with the ongoing season going towards the business end, it’s integral that both parties are clear about the future in order to plan for the 2023/24 season and beyond.
Compared to last year, Tottenham have regressed and have had a really inconsistent season and Antonio Conte doesn’t look too happy at the London based side. The Italian has had a successful career, winning the 2016-17 Premier League trophy with Chelsea and the FA Cup the following season. He also won the Scudetto with Inter Milan in 2020-21 and is considered one of the most successful managers in world football at the moment.
However, his time at Tottenham has been underwhelming to say the least as Spurs crashed out of the Carabao Cup in the third round to Nottingham Forest and lost in the FA Cup fifth round to Championship side Sheffield United. To make matters worse, Spurs lost 1-0 to AC Milan on aggregate in the Champions League last week and it looks like Conte simply cannot get more from this side than what we already see. All evidence from Antonio Conte’s time at Tottenham points towards the Italian leaving at the end of the ongoing season, a solution that will be in the best interests of not just the manager but the club and its fans as well.
