Should Brazil start Vinicius Jr or play him as a super substitute?

(Football news) The 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar is in full force and is already proving to be very entertaining. Brazil who are in a group with Cameroon, Serbia and Switzerland are considered by many as favorites to win the competition and rightly so. The South American team will be relying a lot on their talisman Neymar Jr but apart from that they have a very balanced team. The depth of Brazil in all areas of the pitch is staggering and selecting a playing XI is going to be very challenging. There are reports that claim that Real Madrid wonder boy Vinicius Jr may start on the bench for Brazil. The 5 time champions are planning to be conservative due to the threat of Filip Kostic, Dusan Vlahovic and Alexander Mitrovic.

Vinicius has been incredible in the last year or so scoring important goals for Real Madrid. He has proved to be one of the best players in the World after helping Real Madrid win the Champions League and La Liga last season. He has transformed himself into a player who Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti cannot afford to drop. However Tite is reportedly willing to do that. Speaking on the matter Eder Militao said "Vinicius is a good player but Brazil also has other very good players". Using him as a super-sub against tired legs is also likely to be very effective but at the same time starting him will mean that the opposition left back will be under constant pressure throughout.

If Brazil is planning to play it safe against Switzerland then they are likely to do the same in the later stages as well. Tite has been going with a front 4 consisting of both Neymar and Vinicius but if he does decide to switch to a front 3 then it will be completely understandable. Most teams do play it a little safe at the World Cup and that usually is the right way to go about things. Whether Vinicius starts or comes on as a substitute he will be very important for Brazil. For the kind of football the winger has been playing lately it wouldn't be a surprise if he pulled off something special in Qatar.
