Shelton Wins Epic Five-Set French Battle

American tennis sensation Ben Shelton defeated Lorenzo Sonego in an exciting five-set match at the French Open thanks to an intense effort under the bright lights of Court Philippe-Chatrier.  Shelton reached a significant milestone in his tournament career with this arduous victory that advanced him to the second round.

The crowd exploded in cheers as Shelton raised his racket in victory, capping a match that had spectators on the edge of their seats.  Shelton’s father and coach, Bryan Shelton, as well as his girlfriend, Trinity Rodman, were among the spectators, and they watched with pride as he recovered from a difficult fourth set.

Shelton was seeded 13th, but his tenacity and resolve were evident, particularly during the fierce late-night match.  The difference was his ability to remain composed under duress, creating a memorable image for his debut on the famous Parisian clay.

As tennis great Rafael Nadal was recognized in a moving ceremony honoring his extraordinary career and services to the game, the day was also filled with emotion.
