(Cricket news) The new West Indian sensation Shamar Joseph has been signed by the Lucknow Super Giants as the replacement for Mark Wood. Joseph will join the Super Giants for the upcoming Indian Premier League for a salary of 3 crore INR.
The West Indies pacer was the star for his side, helping them to a historic victory at the Gabba to level the series. He recorded the figures of 7-68, in the final innings of the second test despite a toe injury to rattle the Australians at their Fortress. Joseph scalped a total of 13 wickets in the two games and also scored some valuable runs for his side down the order.
While Joseph do not have a lot of experience in his T20 career, having played only 2 games in his career, but his current performances has been very impressive and can be very good asset for his side. He was part of the Guyana Amazon Warriors setup in the 2023 edition of the Caribbean Premier League.
The reason of Wood being ruled out of the league is still not clear. He has been the part of LSG since 2022. Although he missed the 2022 season due to an elbow injury, but however played four matches in the previous edition taking 11 wickets. He eventually was ruled out of the rest of the season stating personal reasons.
