(Cricket News) The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Wednesday that the captain of the ODI team Shakib Al Hasan has been diagnosed with a retinal condition in his left eye.
After complaining of vision problems, the 36-year-old sought the advice of ophthalmologists in Bangladesh and abroad. Several eye exams led to the final diagnosis, which indicated that Shakib has a problem with his left eye’s retina.
“The medical team supervising Shakib’s case is optimistic about managing the condition effectively with a conservative approach. CSR is a condition that affects the retina, leading to visual disturbances.
It has been decided that a conservative approach will be adopted for managing the issue for now.” Shakib played in the Riders’ season opener against Fortune Barishal, his first since sustaining a finger injury during the 2023 ODI World Cup. Despite Shakib’s 2 for 16, the Riders lost by five wickets.
“He [Shakib] has been dealing with eyesight trouble for some time now. I think he has been in touch with the doctors regularly. The doctors only could say in what level the condition is currently,” stated Rideers captain Nurul Hasan following the game.
