(Football news) Napoli are on a roll this season having won all of their 8 matches this season and sit on top of the table pretty comfortably. On the other hand AC Milan continued their excellent start to the season by coming from behind against Hellas Verona to keep pressure on top of the table.
Juventus continued their recent resurgence by getting a narrow 1-0 victory over AS Roma, Allegri’s side didn’t start the match very brightly as Roma looked very threatening on the counter attack but Juve in the 16 minute a cross from De Sciglio was met by Bentancur whose header ricocheted of Moise Kean to give them a lead. Although Roma were kicking themselves not to at least take a point as they got a penalty just before the first half was ending, Jordan Veretout took it and his effort was saved brilliantly by Szczesny who made amends for conceding the penalty in the first place. With this result Juve is seventh on 14 points and one point behind fourth place Roma.
AC Milan made a stunning comeback to win 3-2 against Hellas Verona, Stefan Poli’s side were under pressure as several players were injured for this crucial match. Poli gave starts to Daniel Maldini, Ballo Toure and Tatarusanu, but the team clearly lacked chemistry. In the first half Milan were all over the place as they conceded a very silly goals, Bennacer failed to clear his line which set up the volley for Caprari to score in the 7th minute, Milan then went onto conceded a penalty which was coolly scored by Barak to give them a 2-0 lead going into half time. Poli made some changes as he got more attackers which clearly made a difference, Milan leveled the score in no time as Giroud scored a header and then Kessie went to score a penalty. Milan for the last 20 minutes got Zlatan on which tipped the balance in their favour as Verona defender Gunter sliced his clearance into his own net to give them a much deserved 3-2 victory. AC Milan have 22 points with this result, just two points off Napoli and five clear of Inter.
Inter Milan lost to Lazio 3-1 in what was a very controversial match, Inzaghi’s side suffered their first loss of the season as the match headlines was dominated by the post match antics that both teams did. In the first half, Inter started off in a very dominant fashion as they won a penalty which was converted by Perisic in the 12th minute but as the match went into the second half, Lazio were slowly and steadily taking control over the match as they won a penalty themselves which was converted by Ciro Immobile in 64 minute. The game came to live in the last 10 minutes as Anderson equalised in the 81st minute when Handanovic parried the ball straight to him, the Inter players were furious as the counter attack happened when Dimarco was lying on the pitch, the final nail in the coffin came in the dying seconds as Milinkovic Savic nodded in a header from Luis Alberto’s free kick.
The actual drama came after the final whistle as Luiz Felipe was shown a straight red card after he jumped on his former teammate Correa which in turn led to a lot of scuffles between the players and the coaches. Inter stayed in third with 17 points after this result as Lazio moved to 5th with 15 points.

Luiz Felipe issued an apology on instagram saying, “First of all, I want to clarify that I have great respect for Inter. We are all professionals, working to pursue our goals, and would never fail to respect another professional. At the end of the game I jumped on Tucu’s (Joaquin Correa) shoulders because he is one of the great friends that football has given me. Our families are friends and we have always been very close. I wanted to hug him and joke about the result, as far as our friendship allows, but I got excited. Perhaps, in retrospect, it was not the best time or the most suitable place. I apologise to anyone who felt offended and I did not try, in any way, to be disrespectful towards him, towards other athletes or towards Internazionale and its passionate fans. It was an innocent act, by a person who has a great affection for Tucu !!”
Napoli continued their marvelous start to the season by winning against Torino 1-0. Luciano Spalleti’s side were looking like they were heading for an unlikely draw but Victor Osihmen came to the rescue in the 81st minute after he soared in for a towering header after Dries Mertens shot took a deflection in the 81st minute. In the first half Napoli saw Insigne’s weak penalty attempt get saved and Di Lorenzo’s goal getting wiped off because of VAR. With this result, Napoli have maximum points of 24 and sit two points ahead of AC Milan.
