(Football news) Inter Milan are back in the title race and take on Thiago Motta’s Spezia in a crucial encounter in bid to keep up with AC Milan at the top of the Serie A table. The Nerazzurri have won three of their last five league games at the San Siro without conceding a single goal, while Spezia are unbeaten in each of their last 10 matches away from home. Spezia boss Thiago Motta will face his former club Inter, where he played 55 times in Serie A between August 2009 and January 2012. Inter over the recent weeks have secured maximum points against Juventus and Hellas Verona which has indirectly put them back in the Scudetto race. Over the recent weeks Inter have boasted the highest points-per-game average (2.6) against Serie A teams currently in the bottom half of the table, claiming a total of 36 points in 14 games. Victory for Inzaghi's men against Spezia would see them move to the top of the table, but if Milan were to beat Genoa then they would go second but they will still have that one match in hand.
Spezia possible starting lineup:
Provedel; Amian, Erlic, Nikolaou, Reca; Maggiore, Kiwior, Bastoni; Agudelo, Manaj, Gyasi
Inter Milan possible starting lineup:
Handanovic; De Vrij, Skriniar, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Brozovic, Calhanoglu, Gosens; Martinez, Dzeko
AC Milan will be looking to get back to winning ways when they face Genoa after two successive 0-0 draws have somewhat derailed their first title challenge since 2011. The Rossoneri have only won two of their last six league matches at the San Siro. Stefano Pioli's men had 47 shots on goal between these two matches, but they were unable to find the net and dropped four crucial points against the opposition in the bottom half of the table. The Rossoneri, who are trying to win their first Serie A title since 2011, will be rueing their chances of extending their lead after city rivals Inter Milan claimed back-to-back league wins to move to within two points from the top of table with a game in hand. Milan will be confident of getting back to winning ways and hopefully finding their form in front of goal when they face Genoa, as they have won seven of their last 10 league games against them and subsequently scored two or more goals on six of those occasions.
AC Milan possible starting lineup:
Maignan; Calabria, Kalulu, Tomori, Hernandez; Tonali, Kessie; Saelemaekers, Diaz, Leao; Giroud
Genoa possible starting lineup:
Perin; Hefti, Maksimovic, Ostigard, Vasquez; Badelj, Galdames; Melegoni, Amiri, Portanova; Ekuban
