(Cricket News) At the start of the day, the Typhoons made a rapid start and reached 30 runs on the scoreboard before Robyn Searle (25) was caught out of her crease and stumped by Polly Inglis.
Laura Delany and Rebecca Stokell seemed to be building a promising partnership, but Delany was caught behind just as she was settling in for a significant innings. This dismissal left the Typhoons struggling at 72-4.
Aimee Maguire then took three wickets in five balls, including the crucial wicket of Rebecca Stokell (19), allowing the Scorchers to seize control of the game. Maguire’s left-arm spin caused numerous difficulties for the Typhoons’ batters, resulting in a quick collapse of the tail-end, and the Typhoons were eventually bowled out for 101.
Chasing a relatively modest target, the Scorchers’ opening pair of Gaby Lewis and Mary-Anne Musonda laid a solid foundation with a partnership of 70 runs.
Once Musonda was dismissed, clean-bowled by Alice Tector, Lewis and Inglis comfortably guided the Scorchers to victory with 6.5 overs to spare.
