Lionel Scaloni, coach of the Argentina national team, discussed the squad’s game versus Paraguay.
Following the team’s 2-1 defeat to Paraguay in the World Cup qualifying tournament, Lionel Scaloni gave a press conference. Here is what he said when addressing the media:
“I’m here to encourage my players, not to offer criticism. We were aware that the match would be challenging. Our goal is to advance and instill confidence in a large number of new players.
“We played a fantastic game in the first half, but the first action at the start of the second half made things hard. We must commend the opponent for their excellent defense.”
“We’re trying to get back on track while we play. During games, the squad always tries and gives it their all. No ball is given away by the players. We will next examine what we may improve upon.”
Scaloni also discussed Tuesday’s World Cup qualifying match versus Peru:
Although they also face challenges, Peru will be a very different opponent. With careful preparation, we should be able to provide our supporters with an enjoyable experience. We have faith in the work we have been doing.
