(Cricket News) Former Nepal captain, Sandeep Lamichhane has been denied the visa to the United States of America. Sandeep, on Wednesday took to the social media to inform about his visa rejection just a week before the start of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
The leg-spinner was expected to join the Nepal side ahead of their warm-up game against Canada next week. His conviction for a rape case was overturned on appeal by the Patan High Court a week ago, which cleared him to be the part of the global event.
Sandeep has been denied of a US visa previously as well, when he had to transit through the country during the Caribbean Premier League 2019. He was initially refused the visa but fortunately managed to obtain the requisite visa.
Nepal are placed in group D at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. They are set to two of their leagues games in the USA. They will be taking on the Netherlands in Dallas, Texas and Sri Lanka in Lauderhill, Florida. They would then fly to t Vincent for their remaining matches against South Africa and Bangladesh.
The rejection of visa has now put Sandeep’s place in the squad in a dilemma. It is still unclear whether Sandeep will be a part of the Nepal side or not. He can however be available only for the games in the Caribbean, unless he attains the USA visa.
