European Cricket: Estonia’s Sahil Chauhan Smashes Fastest T20I Century in Just 27 Balls

Sahil Chauhan, Indian-origin Estonian batter, shattered records in the ECN Cyprus - Estonia T20I 2024 Cup with a blistering century off just 27 balls. Eclipsing the previous record of 33 balls held by Jan-Nicol Loftie Eaton, his feat at the Happy Valley Ground in Episkopi, Cyprus on Monday, has also surpassed the record for the quickest T20 century across all formats - Beating Chris Gayle's 30-ball century in the IPL 2013.

(Cricket news) Sahil Chauhan, Indian-origin Estonian batter, shattered records in the ECN Cyprus – Estonia T20I 2024 Cup with a blistering century off just 27 balls. Eclipsing the previous record of 33 balls held by Jan-Nicol Loftie Eaton, Sahil Chauhan feat at the Happy Valley Ground in Episkopi, Cyprus on Monday, has also surpassed the record for the quickest T20 century across all formats – Beating Chris Gayle’s 30-ball century in the IPL 2013.

During the course of the innings, Chauhan also set a new record of most number of sixes in a men’s T20 international with 18 maximums.

Chauhan’s remarkable performance came during the second match of a six-match series in Episkopi, following a stark contrast in his earlier game where he was dismissed for a golden duck.

Chauhan smashed four sixes in one over against Mangala Gunasekara, and reached his 50 in just 14 balls. He continued his powerful hitting with more sixes off Chamal Sadun and Neeraj Tiwari, scoring a century in just 27 balls. His outstanding performance, with a strike rate of 351.21, led Estonia to victory, with Bilal Masud playing second fiddle to the incredible knock with a 21-run contribution.
