(Football news) Ryan Gravenberch is close to joining Bayern Munich in the summer according to Fabrizio Romano. The 19 year from Ajax has been under the radar of several big clubs but ultimately it looks the teenager has decided to join the German Giants. Gravenberch has already got 11 goals and 13 assists for Ajax in almost 100 games and just having made his Eredivisie debut aged just 16.
It is learnt that Bayern's opening bid came in €10m below Ajax's €35m asking price, but they are hopeful that Ajax will make some compromise in order to avoid losing him on a free transfer next season. Gravenberch is flattered by Bayern's interest and is open to a move to Allianz Arena, where he would see his current salary demands met. Real Madrid and Manchester United were the other two clubs interested in Gravenberch, but now it appears that Bayern have made the first move and will be hoping that their €25 million offer will be enough to seal the deal, even though Ajax want around €35 million.
Manchester United were one of those clubs who have been tracking the progress of the 19-year-old for a while. The talented Dutchman was identified as the club’s ideal choice to replace Paul Pogba, who is expected to depart from Old Trafford, following the end of his contract at the end of the season. Real Madrid also have been keeping tabs on Gravenberch for a long time as it is no secret that Los Blancos are in the market for new midfielders in the summer as their reliable and legendary midfield trio of Toni Kroos, Casemiro and Luka Modric are in the final phases of their respective careers.
Ryan Gravenberch is regarded as the hottest young prospect in the world and many clubs have scouted him since his days in the famous Ajax academy. Standing at 6'2' he is physically robust, with excellent feet and has the ability to get out of tight spaces when the opposition is pressing. At Ajax, he mainly operated in a double pivot and drops deep to help facilitate build-up play from back to front. At the tender age of 19, his positional sense is immaculate and his added pace makes him the perfect box to box midfielder. He's a raw talent and with which he can certainly be one of the top midfielders in the world.
