(Football news) Cristiano Ronaldo broke his goal scoring drought as he returned to the scoresheet on Friday when he headed in the opening goal for Al Nassr in their 4-0 victory over Al Raed in the Saudi Pro League. The former Ballon D’or winner scored inside four minutes, when he met a cross from by Sultan Al-Ghannam as he comfortably nodded the header into the corner of the net from very close range.

Al Nassr played a passive first half but in the second they came out all guns blazing and doubled their advantage 10 minutes into the second half through Ghareeb before Mohammed Maran and Abdulmajeed Al-Sulaiheem scored in the final minutes for an emphatic victory. Ronaldo who turned 38 in February had gone goalless in his last three matches as Al Nassr dropped very crucial points in the title race and were subsequently knocked out of the King Cups also.

Despite the win, Al Nassr remained three points behind Al Ittihad and the Riyadh based club played a game more. Al Nassr have five league games remaining this season and in those five games they hope Al Ittihad drop points. Al Nassr have been eliminated from all the domestic competitions as they lost the Saudi Super Cup final to Al Ittihad in January and have not beaten any of their closest rivals this season. Ronaldo signed for Al Nassr in December following the end of his second spell in Manchester United. He was publicly criticised by the club and their manager Erik ten Hag but he has answered back to the critics has he has already scored 12 goals in 13 league appearances since joining the club.
