(Cricket news) MI Cape town hammered the table-toppers, Paarl Royals by 8 wickets in the 11th match of the SA20. Ryan Rickelton continued his red hot form as he dominated the Royals attack with a scintillating knock of 94 from just 54 balls which included 6 sixes.
Rickelton hammered his fourth straight half-century of the tournament and carried his bat through the chase against the Royals. Given a life on six, he made Royals pay a heavy price. He combined with fellow opener Rassie van der Dussen for a 80-run stand in just 8 overs before the latter was dismissed by Shamsi.
Being put into bat Paarl Royals got off to a flying start with Buttler and Jason Roy putting up a 62-run stand inside the first 5 over for the first wicket. However none of the other batters managed to capitalize, as the Royals saw a collapse, losing 6 wickets for 72 runs. David Miller and Van Buuren somehow managed to take Royals to a respectable total of 172 runs in their given overs.
Chasing 173 MICT got off to flyer, however it was Tabraiz Shamsi who got Paarl Royals two quick breakthroughs in his succeeding overs but Rickelton kept the bowlers busy ensuring that MICT were well above the game.
Joining hands at 112/2, Connor Esterhuizen played a mere spectator in the unbeaten 63-run stand as Rickelton took the attack to the opposition again after a brief period of consolidation helping MICT to comfortably chase the target with 19 balls to spare.
Brief scores: Paarl Royals 172/8 in 20 overs (Jos Buttler 46, Jason Roy 38; Thomas Kaber 3-20) MI Cape Town 175/2 in 16.5 overs (Ryan Rickleton 94*, Rassie van der Dussen 41; Tabraiz Shamsi 2-35)
