Real Madrid play Osasuna to try and put one hand on the title

(Football news) Last game week almost guaranteed Real Madrid the La Liga title. Los Blancos came back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 against Sevilla and Barcelona lost to Cadiz on the very next night. Real Madrid now need just 7 points from their remaining 6 games to claim their 34th La Liga title. If they manage to win their next 2 matches, then a win or draw against Atletico Madrid 3 weeks from now would secure Carlo Ancelotti's men the title at the Wanda Metropolitano.

After their controversial 2-1 win against Espanyol, Atletico Madrid are still ahead of Real Betis in the top 4 race. They will now host relegation-threatened Granada to try and stamp their authority on the UCL spots. Geoffrey Kondogbia and Felipe are suspended while Hector Herrera is still out with an injury. Joao Felix and Thomas Lemar picked up injuries in the Espanyol game and are expected to be out for the rest of the season. The possibility of Real Madrid winning the title at Wanda Metropolitano would be devastating for Atléti fans but it has been that kind of season for them. If Real Madrid seal the title before the El Derbi then the Rojiblancos may give them a guard of honour which will be interesting to see.

Real Madrid will travel away to Osasuna after their incredible comeback win over Sevilla. Carlo Ancelotti will be hoping that his side can get a comfortable win this time with the Manchester City game around the corner. Ferland Mendy and Marcelo are still out with their injuries while Casemiro, Mariano and Luka Jovic are also ruled out after some discomfort. Gareth Bale has also been left out of the squad for unknown reasons. Ancelotti has also announced that Luka Modric will be rested for the game which means that Toni Kroos, Fede Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga will start in midfield while Rodrygo will finally get a start after a run of incredible substitute appearances.

Barcelona got two back to back disappointing home losses that knocked them out of the Europa League and practically ruled out their La Liga title hopes. They now have to try and bounce back with a win against Real Sociedad or they might miss out on a top 4 finish as well. Pedri, Samuel Umtiti and Sergi Roberto remain unavailable with injuries while Gerard Pique is still a doubt. 6th placed La Real are also in the title race and will make a late charge if they manage to beat the Blaugrana. They will have to do so without the suspended David Silva and injured Mikel Oyarzabal.
