(Football news) The AC Milan star is recovering from an injury but he should be available for the Serie A game against Spezia and the all important second leg against Inter next Tuesday as Milan are working hard on his contract renewal. The contract extension has a few final details to complete before it is made official. Italian journalist Matteo Moretto has added that the release clause will be set at €175m, which is mainly a blow for the big clubs who were planning to move from him. Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara wanted to increase the release clause to ward off interest from the big clubs in Europe
The Court of Arbitration stated that Lille has to pay the pending fee to Sporting CP over the transfer of Rafael Leão. The dispute is over his free transfer in 2018 which saw the forward move to Lille for a reported fee of €20m (originally €16.5m, which grew with interest) in compensation for the Portuguese international but a season later he was sold to the Rossoneri.
Leão extended his contract till 2028 and will have a significant raise in his salary, while Lille also have come to an agreement to pay Sporting CP the €19.6m they owe, with the remaining €1m being paid by Leao himself. Milan are also going to reimburse 90% of the fee Lille with the Ligue 1 outfit also guaranteeing a share of the profit on a future transfer. Lille will receive €15m, should he leave for his release clause of €100m this season but now with his release clause increased Lille can get a massive payout as well
Leao was an integral piece absent from yesterday’s disappointing 2-0 loss to their City rivals Inter in the Champions League. The winger has been one of the Rossoneri’s standout performers over the past few seasons and has played a key role in their title-winning season last year. This year also he has been in top form scoring 13 goals and having 13 assists in all competitions also.
