(Cricket News) Prakhar Chaturvedi of Karnataka created history by becoming the first player to score 400 runs in the final of the Cooch Behar Trophy, delivering an outstanding unbeaten knock of 404 against Mumbai.

In the course of this remarkable innings, Chaturvedi surpassed the longstanding record set by Yuvraj Singh, who had scored 358 runs in December 1999 while playing for Punjab Under-19s against Bihar Under-19s (which featured a young Mahendra Singh Dhoni) at the Keenan Stadium in Jamshedpur.

Chaturvedi’s phenomenal performance on Monday saw him face 638 balls at a striking rate of 63.32, featuring an impressive tally of 46 fours and three towering sixes at the KSCA Navule Stadium. His contribution played a pivotal role in Karnataka’s total of 890 runs from 223 overs after opting to bat first. They declared their innings after losing eight wickets, amassing a commanding lead of 510 runs over Mumbai, who had been dismissed for 380. Notably, Chaturvedi demonstrated his dominance against Manan Bhatt, scoring 97 runs off his bowling, including two of his three sixes. He also capitalized on Akash Pawar’s bowling, accumulating 79 runs, and punished Prem Devkar with a score of 58 runs.
