(Football news) PSG’s Kylian Mbappe won’t be renewing his contract, and the Ligue 1 powerhouses are determined to keep hold of their most prized player. Al-Hilal made a world-record €300 million offer for Kylian Mbappe, which PSG accepted, thereby opening the door for a transfer that could completely alter the landscape.
Mbappe has stated categorically that he does not intend to extend his agreement with Paris Saint-Germain past June 2024. The French champions have been looking at options for their superstar talisman amid claims that Real Madrid and him have already reached an agreement to play together in La Liga next summer. PSG is eager to offload the 24-year-old this summer in order to prevent losing him on a free transfer next summer as a result of the player’s decision.
The latest development is that PSG has given Al-Hilal permission to speak to Mbappe, who has been left out of the team travelling to Japan and South Korea for preseason with the French champions.
Al-Hilal, one of the four Saudi Pro League clubs that the Gulf state just privatised, is rumoured to be offering Mbappe a contract worth a massive €700 million. To give you an idea of how much money that is, consider that Cristiano Ronaldo, who is currently the most well-known player in the Saudi Pro League, reportedly makes over €200 million annually at Al-Nassr.
The reported sums for the potential Mbappe signing are genuinely amazing, but that is the kind of financial strength Saudi Arabia has and is using, as seen by the consistent inflow of elite athletes to its top division.
It seems unlikely that Mbappe will stay at Al-Hilal for more than a single season, even if he does sign with them. A one-year deal has already been mentioned as an option, allowing the World Cup champion of 2018 to sign with Real Madrid in the summer of 2019 and go for free.
Since moving to PSG from Monaco six years ago, Mbappe has firmly established himself as one of the top players in the world, scoring 212 goals in 260 games and leading Les Parisiens to five Ligue 1 championships.
