Newcastle beat West Ham 5-1 away from home

(Football news) Newcastle United on the weekend got an incredible 2-0 win against Manchester United. The win took Newcastle upto 3rd place ahead of Manchester United on goal difference. Now the Tyneside club has followed it with a statement 5-1 win over West Ham. Eddie Howe made 2 changes to the team as Callum Wilson came in for Alexander Isak while Joe Willock was dropped in favor of Joelinton. West Ham on the other hand were coming after back to back wins against AEK Larnaka in the Conference League and Southampton in the Premier League. 

Callum Wilson opened the scoring inside 6 minutes assisted by Alan Saint-Maximin and 7 minutes later Joelinton made it 2-0. In the 40th minute Kurt Zouma scored from Jarrod Bowen’s corner to go into half time just a goal down. In the 2nd half Newcastle continued their domination as Callum Wilson scored his 2nd of the game just after the start of the half. Alexander Isak came on for Wilson and scored after a terrible error by Lucasz Fabianski. Joelinton scored another to make it 5-0 and cap off an incredible away win.

The win keeps Newcastle ahead of Manchester United on goal difference. It was complete domination by Eddie Howe’s men as they are flying towards a Champions League place. The Tyneside club do have Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Chelsea coming up but they are in a very strong position. West Ham are still in a fierce relegation battle as they are one of 4 teams on 27 points while Leicester City on 25 and Southampton on 23 are the only teams behind. They will need to improve a lot to stay up.
