New Zealand dethroned the current World champions England as the number one men's team in the yearly ODI rankings update.
However, England solidified their place at the top of the T20I ladder after the annual update carried out on Monday.
These updates removed the results from 2017-18 and halved the weightage of games played during 2019-20 which also includes the ICC World Cup 2019.
New Zealand, who triumphed Bangladesh 3-0 in their only ODI series during the past year, have progressed two slots in the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s ODI Team Rankings after bagging 3 rating points to reach an aggregate of 121. Australia are placed second with 118 points while India and England are both on 115, with India ahead on decimal points.
England’s fall to fourth spot comes in the second annual update since they won the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup at Lord’s in the summer of 2019. In the last 12 months, they have endured 2-1 series defeats to Australia and India, along with an ODI lost to Ireland.
England are the number one ranked team in the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings, extending their lead over India by 5 points. During the course of this period, they drew a three-match series against Pakistan 1-1, triumphed Australia 2-1 and South Africa 3-0 before they lost an overseas series to India by a 3-2 margin.
New Zealand moved up from 5th to 3rd spot after series victories over West Indies, Pakistan, Australia and Bangladesh. Australia have slipped down from third to fifth position.
Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have moved one spot to clinch the eighth and ninth spots respectively, while the West Indies slipped two places to 10th.
Afghanistan are ranked 10th in ODIs and 7th in T20Is, Pakistan are placed at number 6 in ODIs and 4th in T20Is whereas South Africa are fifth in ODIs and sixth in T20Is.
