New Zealand domestic one day season resumes with Ford Trophy and Hallyburton Johnstone Shield national competitions

According to a press release by New Zealand Cricket, the domestic one day season has resumed with both men’s Ford Trophy and women’s Hallyburton Johnstone Shield national competitions. Both competitions only have four rounds of the regular season remaining, with the men playing from 11 am on 19th February in Auckland (behind closed doors), Queenstown and Wellington (Basin Reserve) on Sunday. The women will be playing on Saturday 10 am and Sunday at Hamilton, Wellington (Karori Park) and Rangiora. Both Central Hinds and Canterbury Magicians will seal their place in the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield finals with two wins and will meet each other in a top of the table clash in Rangiora. Auckland Hearts who are in third place will be hoping for a split result in Rangiora to catch up with the two leaders. The Magicians will have a new captain in Gabby Sullivan as the White Ferns are gearing to play against England and the Central Hinds have named Anna Gaging and Kate Gaging, uncapped identical twin sisters of Nelson in their one day squad for the very first time. Canterbury will look to take away the Northern Districts’ fragile lead in the Ford Trophy (they will face Otago Volts in Queenstown). Central Stags also stand a chance to qualify for the playoffs that will begin on March 3rd with a 2 vs 3 Elimination Final. A maximum of 5 points is up for grabs at the Ford Trophy and Hallyburton Johnstone Shield with four points for a win and a bonus point for getting a net run rate higher than 1×25 that of the opponents.
