(Football news) Serie A runaway leaders Napoli got an easy 3-0 home win over bottom side Cremonese on Sunday as they claimed their sixth consecutive league win. Napoli scored first in the 21st minute through their in form winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia who kept the ball from going out and ran at the defender to finish his solo effort with a low shot into the right corner. In the second half, striker Victor Osimhen doubled their advantage shortly after the hour mark as the Nigerian scored in his sixth league game in a row to make it eight goals in 2023.
Substitute midfielder Eljif Elmas put the icing on the cake when he sealed the win 11 minutes from time, after he was set up by an inch perfect pass from the defender Giovanni Di Lorenzo. Napoli have opened up a 16 points advantage over second-placed Inter Milan, who travel to Sampdoria on Monday. Cremonese are still without a league win this season and subsequently remain bottom of the standings on eight points. For Napoli they already have a hand on the elusive Scudetto title as the Naples fans would finally see their 30 year wait for a title end.
For Juventus a first-half goal by midfielder Adrien Rabiot earned Juventus a hard fought 1-0 home win over Fiorentina in Serie A on Sunday which stretched the visitors’ winless run to five games. Rabiot put Juve in front in the 34th minute with a close-range header from a delightful cross by Angel Di Maria. Fiorentina goalkeeper Pietro Terracciano initially tried to parry the ball away but the goal line technology showed that the ball had crossed the line.
Striker Dusan Vlahovic thought he had scored to make it 2-0 in the 59th minute when he lobbed the keeper in what would have been his first goal against his former club but it was ruled out by VAR due to an offside in the build-up. For Fiorentina, Gaetano Castrovilli gave Fiorentina hope minutes from time, when his low shot went past the Juventus defence and left keeper Wojciech Szczesny with no chance, but VAR cancelled the goal for another offside.Juventus moved up to ninth on 29 points from 22 games which is one point behind eight-placed Udinese and Torino in seventh while Fiorentina dropped to 14th on 24 points.
