(Cricket news) Mumbai Indians are the most successful team in IPL history with 5 trophies. However the last 2 seasons haven’t gone to plan as they have failed to make it to the playoffs. Jasprit Bumrah and Jhye Richardson have been ruled out of the tournament and Mumbai Indians haven’t named any replacements yet. They still have a very good squad filled with match winners and they can go all the way once again.
Mumbai Indians ideal playing XI –
Openers: Rohit Sharma & Ishan Kishan
Rohit Sharma is the Indian captain but his place in the T20I side is now being questioned. This is the perfect time for him to show what he is capable of in this format. Ishan Kishan has become a part of the Indian squad in all formats. Now he will be looking to have a consistent IPL season as Mumbai Indians have spent a lot of money on him.
Middle order: Tilak Verma, Suryakumar Yadav & Tim David
Tilak Verma was the bright spark for Mumbai Indians last season. He has since had a decent domestic season and now will look to go a level higher. Suryakumar Yadav has become one of the best if not the best T20 batter in the world. However he is coming into the tournament after 3 consecutive golden ducks in the ODIs against Australia and will be low on confidence. Tim David didn’t get a long run last season but this season he is likely to get that as his destructive batting will be very useful.
All-rounders: Cameron Green & Shams Mulani
Cameron Green was Mumbai Indians marquee signing this season and he will be the one to watch in his debut IPL season. He will have a big role to play with both bat and ball. Shams Mulani has been a consistent performer in domestic cricket but is yet to make his IPL debut. He is likely to get the opportunity this season at least for a few games.
Seamers: Jofra Archer & Jason Behrendorff
Mumbai Indians fans will finally get to see Jofra Archer playing for their side. Jasprit Bumrah and Jhye Richardson’s injury brings Jason Behrendorff into play. possibility that Mumbai Indians go for Duan Jansen or change the combination to go for Tristan Srubbs or Dewald Brevis.
Spinners: Piyush Chawla & Kumar Kartikeya
Piyush Chawla is a seasoned campaigner who has a lot of IPL experience. He hasn’t played in a while but it will be interesting to see what he brings to the table. Kumar Kartikeya played 5 games last season but this season he will most probably get a longer run. There is a possibility that they play Hrithik Shokeen but Kartikeya should get the edge.
Bench: Tristan Stubbs, Vishnu Vinod, Arjun Tendulkar, Ramandeep Singh, Nehal Wadhera, Hrithik Shokeen, Duan Jansen, Shams Mulani, Raghav Goyal, Akash Madhwal
