(Football news) The Mumbai City FC First Team, together with Des Buckingham and the staff, traveled to Thailand on Saturday, July 15 as part of the squad’s pre-season training for the 2023-24 season. From July 15 to August 1, the squad will be based in Bangkok, Thailand.

Des Buckingham’s Mumbai City finished the 2022-23 season at the pinnacle of Indian football, clinching the ISL League Winner’s Shield in just 18 games and recording an incredible 46 points. They also made history by having the league’s longest winning streak of 11 games and going 18 games undefeated, in addition to surpassing numerous other all-time ISL marks.

“When I look back on last season, I am extremely pleased with how we progressed as a club.” It was a fantastic achievement for Mumbai City FC to go unbeaten in 18 games and win the Indian Super League Shield. “However, it was the team’s play, breaking many league records and players expressing themselves so well, that was the most enjoyable part,” remarked the Islanders’ Head Coach.

“Mumbai City must now focus on the upcoming season, and the club has been very supportive in our efforts to prepare for a new and exciting campaign.” We are all excited to begin our pre-season here in Thailand tomorrow in order to build and evolve our game. We then begin our new journey with the Durand Cup before preparing for the ISL and AFC Champions League,” explained the 38-year-old Englishman ahead of his team’s trip to Bangkok.

Mumbai City FC, CEO Kandarp Chandra discussed the goals of the team’s training camp in Thailand, emphasizing the importance of building on last season’s success. “As we begin another season, our goal will be to build on the success of the previous season and go even further.” We have gathered a great team that is capable of not only competing but also thriving in the difficulties that lay ahead of us.”

“We chose Bangkok as our destination because it allows us to train in appropriate weather conditions away from Mumbai’s monsoons and will also help the squad prepare better.” “Our head coach, Des, and his dedicated staff are committed to getting the most out of this exceptional group of players, and I wish him and the squad the best of luck in this pre-season camp,” Kandarp Chandra stated.

The Islanders’ preseason will be followed by the 132nd Durand Cup, which will begin on August 3rd.
