Milan Surprised by Gravina’s Comments on Camarda

Given that Francesco Camarda is Italy’s next great thing, AC Milan is under a lot of pressure to properly develop him. But the team has recently come under fire for how they have handled the young player.

Camarda has demonstrated his ability to advance up the ranks by breaking records in a number of youth events. Due to his performances, clubs in his own country and abroad have expressed interest in him, which has spurred speculations regarding his professional football future. Many think he has a bright future ahead of him if he keeps improving and honing his skills, and he might be a major player for AC Milan in the years to come.

The Rossoneri are being cautious because, if all goes according to plan, Camarda will be the face of both Milan and the Italian national team for years to come. The striker made a strong impression at the youth level every year, which is why he was deserving of a promotion.

The Futuro squad’s Serie C choice made a lot of sense because the club would rather keep a closer watch on him while giving him senior football minutes rather than loaning him out.

However, Gabriele Gravina, the head of the FIGC, has expressed disapproval of this decision. He said earlier this week that he finds it “sad to see how often they [young players] are not used by the clubs; Camarda at Milan comes to mind.” Talent requires opportunities, which are provided outside.

Gazzetta dello Sport published an article today (via SempreMilan) stating that the club was “surprised” by these remarks because they frequently provide young players with significant opportunity. After making progress this summer, Camarda views the Futuro as merely a necessary “intermediate stage” in his further development.

This will primarily help him develop physically, but it will also free him up to

develop mentally without the strain of trying to make the Rossoneri first team, for which he is obviously destined.
