Tottenham Hotspurs are set to pay an initial €30 million (£34.46 million) for the 22-year-old centre-back, with add-ons potentially bringing the total to €50 million (£43.08 million).
He is scheduled to travel to the UK for a medical once the transaction is finalised. Van de Ven, a Dutch U21 international, is eager to relocate to north London.
Van de Ven would be Spurs’ fourth acquisition under new head coach Ange Postecoglou. Spurs have already made Dejan Kulusevski’s loan from Juventus permanent for £25.6 million, signed James Maddison from Leicester for £40 million, Gugliemo, Vicario from Italian side Empoli for £17.2 million, and Manor Solomon on a free transfer.
This agreement with Wolfsburg for Van de Ven would bring their total spending for the summer transfer window to £125.8 million.
