The 2023 Dutch Grand Prix will feature upgraded cars from Mercedes and Aston Martin, who are vying for second place in the Formula 1 constructors' championship.

(Motorsports news) As the season begins in Zandvoort after the summer break, Aston Martin is 51 points behind Mercedes, and the Silverstone team has been struggling since Canada. The team has submitted to the FIA a significantly reworked floor and diffuser for this weekend. In order to improve airflow and boost the downforce produced, the lower surface of the floor body has been changed, the floor fences have been redesigned, and the floor edge has been adjusted.

To increase the effectiveness of the lower surface, these will cooperate with a new diffuser, for which the upper corner has been altered and a little winglet created. The upgrades, according to Fernando Alonso, are intended to give the car a clear direction for both this year and the following year. We also brought some new components to Canada, Silverstone, and now these new aerodynamic components that we bring here, which we think will improve performance.

With a shorter forward floor edge wing that is intended to “improve flow to the rear and increase rear downforce,” Mercedes has redesigned the floor edge of the W14. A beam wing adjustment and a change to the sidepod mirror stay are both intended to boost the rear wing load by improving airflow to the back of the Mercedes car.

Red Bull has unveiled a new beam wing specification with modified cambers and angles of incidence “to improve the pressure distribution and improve wing performance” whereas Ferrari has left its SF-23 alone. The team that has put the most effort into emulating the RB19’s straight-line efficiency by concentrating on the interaction between the rear wing and beam is McLaren, and they have modified both components.

Aerodynamic efficiency improvements for the Zandvoort drag range have been made to the MCL60’s beam and rear wing (new mainplane, flap, and endplate). In an effort to address the tyre degradation issues that have slowed it down in the race, Haas will run a redesigned front wing and nose, while modified rear brake ducts should help with cooling.
