Mbappé Included in Real Madrid Squad Despite Injury

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti is hoping that Kylian Mbappé can recover in time to play in next week’s Intercontinental Cup final, despite the striker missing one Spanish league match due to a leg injury.

Mbappé’s injury to his left thigh this week will prevent him from playing in Saturday’s La Liga encounter against Rayo Vallecano, Ancelotti announced on Friday.

Mbappé, however, will go to Qatar with the rest of his colleagues for the Intercontinental Cup final on December 18, when Madrid will play either Pachuca or Al Ahly, according to the Italian coach.

“We will see if he can play without taking any (injury) risks,” Ancelotti said to reporters. “He will travel because we think he can recover from the injury.”

After scoring his 50th Champions League goal in Tuesday’s 3-2 victory over Atalanta, Mbappé was replaced due to a leg injury.

Ancelotti continued, “It’s hard to say where they [injuries] come from.”

“He has been here working with us for the last two international breaks. He is now better. Fortunately, his absence will only be brief. He won’t lose what he has produced in the last few games, in my opinion.

While Austrian defender David Alaba is nearing a comeback from a knee ailment, Ancelotti announced that France midfielder Eduardo Camavinga is available after recovering from a hamstring issue.
