(Football news) Mason Mount is entering the final year of his contract with Chelsea. The player has rejected a new deal and is now keen to leave the club. The fact that Mason Mount has taken this decision is surprising because he is an academy player and a boyhood Chelsea fan. According to reports he wants to join Manchester United this summer to start a new chapter. United are also interested in bringing him to Old Trafford however Chelsea are being tough with negotiations.
According to reliable reports, Chelsea want at least €80 Million for Mason Mount which is very high for someone who has just 1 year left on his contract. Manchester United has a long history of dragging negotiations for too long after reaching an agreement with a player and this could be another similar case. Chelsea have spent a lot of money in the last two windows, so it is understandable that they don’t want to part ways with someone like Mason Mount so easily. The player himself will be pushing for the move because if he stays then Chelsea might not play him at all next season.
New Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has already decided to not sign Joao Felix and Denis Zakaria on permanent deals. By the looks of it Mason Mount is all set to leave as is Ruben Loftus Cheek who is in talks with AC Milan. Manchester City are interested in signing Mateo Kovacic so that will generate a significant amount of money for Chelsea. Next season Chelsea have no European football so Pochettino can afford to have a slim squad.
