(Football news) Sadio Mane has decided to leave Liverpool with Bayern Munich being considered as one of the possible destinations for the 30 year old. The Senegalese winger has been at Anfield since 2016 and wants a new challenge after winning every possible trophy in England. Mane has one year left on his contract, which means Liverpool would be forced to sell him this summer or risk losing him for free next year. The Reds have been trying to persuade the winger to remain at the club and will look for £30m in transfer fees.
Before the Champions League final, Mane said “Come back to me on Saturday and I will give you the best answer you want to hear, for sure. It’s special.” Bayern, who might lose Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona this summer, would need attacking reinforcements and the Senegalese player could be the perfect addition to their squad. The Reds could also choose to keep Mane in his final year if a suitable deal isn’t agreed between the two parties. Bayern are expected to offer Mane a contract until 2025 with an initial offer of £25m plus between £4m and £8m in bonus payments.
Mohamed Salah is another player who only has a year remaining on his contract but the Egyptian has already said that he will be playing for Liverpool for at least one more season. The club and Salah’s representatives have not reached an agreement yet on a contract extension with Salah reiterating that his motivation is not “financial” and that the club “knows what he wants”. When asked about Mane’s future, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said “Wherever Sadio will play next year, he will be a big player."
