(Football news) Manchester United beat Real Madrid to the signature of the teenager over the summer, with the Frenchman moving to the 20-time English champions from Lille in the middle of July.
Yoro made a huge impression against Rangers on his non-competitive debut before travelling with the Manchester United squad to the United States for their pre-season tour, but he fractured his metatarsal in a pre-season clash with Arsenal.
The 19-year-old has been on the sidelines since, but the defender has been back in first-team training since the early stages of November.
Man United youngster Yoro is viewed as a generational talent
Yoro made 60 appearances for Lille, including 44 outings during the 2023-24 campaign, and he is regarded as one of the best young talents in world football.
The centre-back’s return will be like a new signing for Manchester United heading towards the festive period, and he could prove to be a vital player under new head coach Ruben Amorim, who has set his side up in a 3-4-3 system since his arrival.
Yoro is likely to be key for the Portuguese due to his recovery pace, while the youngster is also extremely comfortable in possession of the ball and looks to be the perfect fit to operate as the right-sided centre-back.
The defender was again not involved against Everton on Sunday, with Manchester United being careful when it comes to his fitness, but Amorim has said that the youngster has a strong chance of being in the squad against Arsenal.
“We have one more training session to see it,” Amorim told reporters at Monday’s press conference. “Maybe Leny Yoro is going to be in the squad. I felt he’s in a good moment now, his fitness is better, so I think he is going to be in the squad.
“We didn’t have too many trainings together. He’s training not alone but with a small group of players. He’s really fast but he’s a modern defender and that is good when you want to press high.
“I think he is a special talent but we have to be careful in this first moment. You have a lot of strikers, especially in this league, one against one. I think he can manage that. He’s very good with the ball so I’m really excited but we have to be careful.
“We have to manage the load and the minutes in the beginning, but I’m really excited to see Leny Yoro playing. The rest, I have to see. Some players were tired, so we have to assess tomorrow in training.”
Which other Manchester United players have recovered from injuries?
Luke Shaw has made a timely return for Manchester United, with the left-back overcoming the calf issue that has kept him on the sidelines in the early stages of the campaign.
The defender used the November international break to build his fitness, and he was a second-half substitute against Ipswich before also featuring off the bench against Bodo/Glimt and Everton.
Christian Eriksen, Antony and Mason Mount have also recently returned for the 20-time English champions to further boost their options heading towards the end of the year.
Tyrell Malacia is also back, with the Netherlands international playing the first 45 minutes against Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League, which represented his first appearance for the senior side since May 2023.
Harry Maguire, meanwhile, made his return from a calf problem off the bench against Everton last time out to hand Amorim another option in the middle of the defence.
Manchester United will be missing two vital players for Wednesday’s Premier League clash with Arsenal, though, as Lisandro Martinez and Kobbie Mainoo are both suspended after picking up milestone yellow cards in the clash against the Toffees.
