(Football news) The Englishman did not train with the Red Devils on Wednesday due to the illness, which also kept him out against Liverpool last weekend, but he has not featured in the Premier League since early December.

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim initially left Rashford out due to concerns over his training performances, while his general behaviour around the Carrington base also contributed to the forward being overlooked.

In an ideal world, the Red Devils are said to be looking to sell Rashford for £40m this month, but his wages, which are in the region of £315,000 a week, make an exit incredibly complicated.

Rashford’s brother and agent is said to have been in Milan on Wednesday to meet with AC Milan officials, and according to multiple reports, a “direct face-to-face meeting” also took place with Juventus.

Juventus, Milan ‘leading the race’ for Rashford

It is also reported that Rashford’s representatives are planning to meet with more clubs in the coming days.

There had been suggestions that Serie A outfit Como were in the running for the Red Devils academy product, but Romano has said that “no talks” are taking place over a potential move to the Italian team.

Borussia Dortmund are believed to be in the running, though, with a loan move to BVB for the second half of the 2024-25 campaign thought to be a possibility at this stage of proceedings.

Amid the exit speculation, it is highly unlikely that Rashford will be in the squad against Arsenal in the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon, even if he fully recovers from the illness that saw him also miss training at the end of last week.

Could Rashford join Tottenham on loan?

Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be keen to sign Rashford on loan for the second half of the season, but it is very difficult to imagine Manchester United letting him join another Premier League club.

Indeed, unless there are no other offers on the table, a switch to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is unlikely, with Manchester United keen to move him away from England’s top flight.

Rashford is already believed to have rejected lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia and Turkey, as he is determined to stay in a major European league, and a loan switch to Italy looks the most likely outcome to what has become a difficult situation for all involved.

Much will depend on personal terms, as Manchester United are said to be looking for interested parties to cover the majority of his wages, but even the biggest clubs in Serie A would not be able to come close to matching his substantial salary.
