(Football news) Although opinions on whether Fernandes should wear the captain’s armband are split, he continues to be United’s most important player in the closing third. This season, the Portugal international has made 31 appearances across all competitions, tallying seven goals and seven assists. He has also continued to generate more opportunities than any other player in the Premier League.

Due to their 12-month option, they have a contract that expires in 2026, which is essentially 2027, therefore United need not worry about their star playmaker leaving. In light of the fact that FFP has emerged as a significant concern for the Red Devils, it is uncertain if there is a particular amount that would be too good to refuse.

Many of the elite teams in European football are still enticed by the Saudi Pro League, especially in light of the fact that many of them are currently experiencing financial difficulties.  The possibility that Fernandes would feel pressured to relocate to the Middle East is not causing Manchester United any concern.

In the summer transfer window, Saudi clubs are anticipated to make major moves once more as the league looks to broaden its appeal overall, despite the January transfer window being almost stagnant. Though they now lead the league standings by a wide margin, Al-Hilal are rumored to have the greatest interest in Fernandes.

Ruben Neves, a Portuguese colleague of Fernandes, has already joined the team, but Cristiano Ronaldo is the only notable player in the Saudi Pro League at Al-Nassr. Nevertheless, the source indicates that even if a sizable offer may be made to the player, United intends to have what they believe will be fruitful talks with the 29-year-old at the end of the season.

Both the FA Cup when they are already outside of Europe in 2023–24 and Champions League football for the upcoming season are being attempted by United and Fernandes. The next game for Erik ten Hag’s team is on Sunday when they go to Aston Villa, a competitor for at least a top-five Premier League spot.
